Matilde Männil

Project Founder and Leader

My name is Matilde Männil and I am the founder of INTROspective. I am currently a senior at Lincoln School in Costa Rica. Ever since I was little I have been fascinated by the brain and its enigmatic process and I enjoy reading all about it! With the COVID Pandemic, I had the chance to take several courses in both Psychology and Neuroscience and I am currently taking IB Psychology Higher Level. Seeing all the knowledge I had recently gained in the topic propelled me to open the club in order to be able to share it with others. In a world in which students are often discouraged by mundane, standardized topics in school, I wanted to provide a contagious curiosity for learning about a thought-provoking, engaging topic.

When I decided I wanted to pursue a career in Neuroscience and started looking for opportunities to learn about neuroscience and get involved in research in my community I noticed that these opportunities aren't available in Latin American countries, which is why I decided to open INTROspective. My goal with this project is to share my love for this topic with younger students who aren't usually given the chance to learn about it until a greater age.

Sofía Keith

Co-Founder

Hi, I am Sofia Keith, a 9th-grade student at Lincoln School, Costa Rica.

I have always been a driven person, persistently working hard towards the accomplishment of my goals. However, I had recently found myself falling into a mind consuming hole of doubt ruled by the anguishing uncertainty of my future. My clear vision suddenly fogged as the inescapable ubiquitous question of what I was going to do with my life and what I was working towards clouded my mind. Nevertheless, this all changed once I found Matilde and her amazing initiative.

INTROspective opened my eyes into the intriguing and promising world of neuroscience and psychology in which I found my passion. Our team’s vision for this project is to embark on a path of growth where we are able to reach people all over the world and inspire them by giving them a clear sense of purpose, just like it did to me.

Isabela Salom

INTROspective Teacher

Hi! My name is Isabela Salom and I’m a sophomore from Lincoln School, Costa Rica. Last year I had the opportunity attend  INTROspective as a student and learn about the psychology behind everything we do and how the brain works to do tasks. Throughout the school year, I was fascinated with the things that I was learning and how it influenced me to become more aware of my behavior and the behavior of others.  When Matilde asked me if I wanted to be a teacher for future students I was thrilled since I knew this was the best opportunity to start my journey of knowing and understanding beyond what I  had already learned about  psychology and neuroscience!
